RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

	In the last  few years, extensive  new work has been  done in
computer  vision and manipulation, concepts  of the representation of
knowledge by procedures and  heterarchical programming have been  put
forth,  and an  extended  notion of  automatic  programming has  been
developed.   It is widely though not  universally agreed that the key
problem for AI  at present is how  to represent partial knowledge  of
the  world in  the computer.   Summaries  will be  given  an comments
made, not all favorable, about these developments.
